Worlds 2013 – Marina di Grosseto

Jon and Golly got back from Tuscany last night very excited about next years Worlds. Here is a copy of the e-mail Golly is sending to all who were at the Worlds this year. If you are new to the class or simply couldn’t make the Worlds this year please do get in touch with any queries. We will get more info out as we are able to (and add to the Worlds website – www.RSFevaWorlds.org).

“Jon and I have just returned from a trip to Tuscany looking for a new venue to hold the RS Feva Worlds, after the previous organisers unexpectedly pulled out. The result being we have found an even better venue!!

The organising club is Compagnia Della Vela Grosseto located in the small town of Marina di Grosseto.  This ideal venue has every thing we require to run a successful championships  the size of the RS Feva worlds, which has grown year upon year.

It has perfect sailing conditions and a wide beach to launch and return to. Brilliant viewing for spectators. The organising authority are extremely experienced and will be hosting the Formula 18 Worlds a couple of weeks before us. They are a friendly bunch of people who are very excited and proud to be holding the event.

Ideally situated close to a large selection of restaurants and shops. There is plenty of accommodation ranging from camping (tents) at Camping Rosmarina which is 1 min walk from the club. Chalet and mobile home accommodation at Camping IL Sole, which is aprox 5-10 minute cycle ride away, 20 minute walk.  There is also a range of apartments and hotels available. Camper vans are allowed to park in the club grounds. The organising authorities are busy negotiating with all the accommodation sites to provide competitors with a special price. They have assured me that they will have the contact details of an agent who speaks English and will deal with all bookings by next week.  So if you hang on until I get the contact details, you may be able to save yourself some money.

Travelling to the venue could not be easier.  If you are driving there is plenty of parking available at the club. EasyJet fly to Pisa airport which is approx a 2 hour drive.  You can hire a car or otherwise catch a train to Grosseto (this is the main town and not Marina di Grosseto which is effectively the satellite town/village ‘Grosseto by the Sea’) and then a bus to Marina di Grosseto. An alternative is Rome airport.

There are plenty of activities for friends and family.  Catamarans can be hired on the beach, great kite surfing venue, windsurfing, biking, the list goes on!

The dates of the championship are Friday July19th – Friday 26th July 2013.
