Why the universe revolves

Having found the Higgs Boson last week here is a thought about why the universe really revolves as it does. Observation 1 – The RS Feva World Championships have 180 boats competing and we had to limit the numbers. Observation 2 – The 29ers have 217 boats for their World Championships this year. Calculation 1- that is a total of pretty much 400 boats in all. Conclusion 1 – that is a MASSIVE number of sailors. So why is it that then that these 2 classes have such numbers? Hypothesis: speed and fun and nice people = the world revolves.

Of course the fact that both are ISAF international classes helps. And it is not going to hurt that they both give a huge adrenaline rush. Then I suppose there is the skiff link. Skiff type boats just hit the spot like few others. So is it a natural progression thing then RS Feva – 29er – Olympic Skiff? Certainly could be. Suspicion must be that other classes could give the same fun but these two seem to be able to prove it through sheer force of evidence. While it is undoubtedly that there are plenty who go on to sail other non skiff types of boat very succesfully, there is nonetheless a pleasing lineage there.

In any event, what we are sure about is that those who sail the RS Feva are getting one great start to their sailing lives and able to do so with just about the best fun there is to be had… So which theory of the universe can we help with next?
