Bravo Euromed – GBR1, MLT2
One great Euromed later and congratulations to Elliot Wells & Jake Todd on a fine win from Andrew & Michela Mifsud and Jamie Smith & Piers Nicholls in 3rd. The Maltese challenge grows ever stronger. All 4 GBR boats were quality entrants and the fact that MLT manages to place 2nd and 5th amongst them is a sure sign of growing competitiveness. The final major duel out there was decided in favour of Mule` Stagno Claudia & Suzanna Nikolic (MLT) who finished one behind Rusetskaya Anna & Kseniia Gromova (RUS) in the final race but still had a very slender margin in their [...]
Now that is progress! 2006-12
James Peters, almost 20, and RS Feva World Champion in 2006. Today, with Ed Fitzgerald crewing, he is also 2012 U23 49er World Champion as well as Bronze medallist 49er European Championships. I suspect he may have been sneaking some training in after his coaching at the RS Feva Worlds this summer! Well done James and Ed. photo Thomas Ebenberger.
Euromed 19-22 Dec – Malta
It’s time to start planning your Euromed trip this year. We’ve just got details in from Paul Debono in Malta. Here is the NoR. Entry fee is €75 per boat. Accommodation assistance is here. Malta Young Sailors Club looks forward to welcoming you warmly! A limited number of Charterboats are available at cost of €280 less sails and sheets. If more charterboats are required it may be possible to get them if entry is made early enough. This is always a great fun event. We have heard rumours of planning going on amongst a number of ITA boats as well as amongst a [...]
Worlds – Day 5 Report
The outline results are slowly coming into focus. With a maximum of 2 races to go and an iffy forecast, of the low and rotating speed variety, the endgame is beginning to play out. Much can change but looking at the quality of the leaderboard and the steadiness of some those in it the picture is emerging. But that is only the championship racing – man was there more on today! The nations cup made me split my sides and the blow up games and Hog Roast went down superbly. But the championship first. Bet none of the racers spotted [...]
Worlds – Day 5 Video
The penultimate day of racing at the RS Feva Worlds at Hayling Island SC and the Italian pair, Leonardo Stocchero and Gianluca Virgenti, regained the overall lead. In another sun-baked day in Hayling Bay Stocchero and Virgenti won three of the four races to take a five point lead over Robbie King and Josh Atherton of Ireland, with Jamie Smith and Piers Nicholls (U13) just one point back in third . . . This leading trio have a 27 point cushion from fourth placed Albert Gelpi and Martí Serra (U13) of Spain . . . In fifth place in the [...]
Today? Great!
Todays conditions were just one notch down from proper glamour. Truly great racing. 3 brilliant races for Silver and Bronze fleets as per original program and 5hrs including getting there and back. Gold being ahead of times but last off the water manage 4 races. 5 races into final series the points at the top are properly tight. RESULTS

The highlights video from Day 4 of the RS Feva Worlds 2012 has been added to the event playlist.
Worlds – Day 4 Report
The final series started with optimism and for many anxiety. The fleet is now sorted (I’m sure it was easier in Harry Potter all this sorting – no need to do other than sit down with a hat on!) into equal sized Gold, Silver and Bronze Fleets. At the morning briefing a steady 7 kts was reported by the bay watch team. So on the hottest day of the year so far (32C in Southampton!), the Gold fleet was launched on time with the Silver and Bronze some 20+ mins later. By race time the wind was west of south [...]
