Happy New Year from your new chairman!

Happy New Year from Jop to all RS Feva sailors and their families!

Dear RS Feva sailors, parents and friends.

When we look back at 2012, it has certainly been an exiting year for the Feva class worldwide. We can all look back at a fantastic World Championships atHaylingIslandin July.  We had a record number of entries, fabulous weather, tight racing and a glorious Italian champion. But 2012 also saw Feva sailing really taking off aroundEurope.  New events were launched and the class was incorporated in quite a few well-known multi class regatta’s.  An international training event inSpainwas fully booked and national championships in theUK,Ireland, Czech Republic anHollandattracted more entries then ever.

But the best is yet to come!   New initiatives to expand the class outsideEuropeespecially towardChinaand theUSare gaining ground. The possibility to organize a World Championship outsideEuropewithin 2-5 years now looks more realistic than ever.

2012 also saw a change in the class organisation.  After eight years Bill Tucker decided to step down as chairman of the international federation. These eight years saw the class  build from nothing to being one of the fastest growing youth classes in the world.  Fortunately Bill will stay on the committee, taking care of the PR and promotion of the class.  So together with Golly as class secretary the three of us will work hard to bring the class to the next level without forgetting the basic goal: Great Sailing with Maximum Fun!

I already mentioned our ambitious long term perspective, but looking closer ahead in 2013, we have many great events coming.   The 2013 worlds inTuscanyare gaining more and more shape and a brand new invitational event (The Crown Cup) atLakeLipnoin theCzech Republicduring  late June looks very promising. So stay in touch with the Feva website and Facebook page to plan your (inter)national calendar.

On behalf of the international committee – I wish you all a happy and healthy 2013.    And for all the young sailors, fair winds and lots of fun sailing !

Jop Dutilh
Class chairman
