92 boats raced UK GP – final selector for worlds. Winner decided on tie break!

Phenomenal racing at Grafham in UK. 6 boats finished within 2 points. The first 2 were in the same positions at the United 4 regatta last w/e. So well done to Jenny Smallwood & Jamie Webb from Anna Prescott & Jess Eales. The next 3 were also tied! Getting the 3rd podium place though were James Curtis & Harry Phelps. Full results here. On this evidence there is every possibility that the leading Dutch boats will be in the mix come the Worlds at HISC! So given that the Irish and Italians are also usually there or thereabouts this could [...]

82 boats pre-entered for the first big UK event of 2012

And with a variety of wind conditions predicted, and wall to wall sunshine – oh OK then … showers, it will be a true test of all round skill. The endurance will be added by your International Class secretary running the London Marathon on Sunday. So she’ll just be gagging for the opportunity to sit around quietly next week dealing with all the UK entries for the worlds that will need to be confirmed etc… May the best boat win and the secretary not expire!

Totterdell & Maguire take Irish Youth Nationals in Dublin Bay

Conor Totterdell & Conor Maguire (RStG & National YC’s) stamp authority on proceedings in taking out the Irish Youth Nationals. They didn’t have it all their own way with David Johnstone & Louise Flynn-Byrne (Howth) keeping them honest. In a close third were Jason Tingle & Criofan Guilfoyle (R Cork). Weird result of the weekend was undoubtedly the attritional 6th race when their were only four finishers but the weird bit was… all 4 were from one club! The RSt Georges clearly breeds them tough! http://www.rsgyc.ie/mitsubishi_results/2012results-feva.htm

United 4 report from Medemblik

Thanks to the Dutch Association for the report (Cheers Jop!) Just a couple of words from Holland after the first of  a series of four multiclass youth regattas sailed this weekend. First of all it was a massive breakthrough for the RS feva class in the Netherlands to become part of the immense popular event called “United4 Sailing Regatta”.   With over 450 boats competing in  13 popular one-design dingy classes, it was difficult to convince the organizers that they should include RS feva to the list. And what an entry they made !  With 30 entries on the list, the RS [...]
